Using a self-developed technique of carving through layers of acrylic paint, these series translates personal photography into semi-abstract memories. These paintings are a visual metaphor for memories: obscure in detail but clear in their entirety. The series begins with fading memories: inherited memories of travel that shaped my foundational worldview. It then shifts to personal experiences that capture monochrome cityscapes, nostalgic coloured skies seen through airplane portholes, and distorted architectural reflections. The work asks the viewer how fragmented images construct and distort our personal histories.
