A paper crown is worn as a joke, imitating power through inexpensive material. This work recreates that symbol using electronic paper displays. We encounter these displays throughout everyday life, from e-readers to supermarket price tags. By translating a symbol of value into commodity hardware, the work shifts its meaning. It questions how seriously we should take the power these technologies appear to hold in our lives.
