A paper crown is worn as a joke, imitating power through inexpensive material. This work recreates that symbol using electronic paper displays. We encounter these displays throughout everyday life, from e-readers to supermarket price tags. By translating a symbol of value into commodity hardware, the work shifts its meaning. It invites the viewer to question how seriously we should take the power these technologies appear to hold in our lives.
